Cancellation: A Man of No Importance

April 8, 2024

A message from the Board of Directors:

In the last year, we have enjoyed an incredible amount of support from our community during the campaign to raise funding for our new lighting system.  The plan was to upgrade the old electrical system, install a new lighting controller, and replace all of our stage lighting instruments.  This was necessary, as the type of incandescent lamps that our old stage lights used were no longer being manufactured.

Through your generosity, we raised more than enough to complete the project.  The electrical upgrades and new lighting system were installed in January.  Our February show, Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite, was our new lighting system’s debut.

However, during our push to get the lighting system replaced, additional issues in both our electrical system and organizational structure have come to light.  These issues must be addressed to continue to provide the quality that you have all come to expect from us.

Therefore, we must announce that our upcoming June production of A Man of No Importance has been canceled.

We want to assure you that we are not going anywhere.  This is a bump in the road, not the end of it.  Our production of Rope will still open on April 12th.  We are performing some internal restructuring and reorganizing, and after Rope closes we intend to push through the rest of spring and summer with a new events schedule designed to accommodate the changes we need to make.  Details will be released once they are finalized. You can expect several smaller evenings of entertainment such as comedy nights, dance shows, and other surprises.  And rest assured that A Man of No Importance is still a story we want to tell, even if we can’t get to it this season.

With that said, if you have purchased tickets for A Man of No Importance, we want to offer you the following options:

  • You may use your tickets to attend Rope, or give them to a friend so they may do so.
  • If you choose to donate your ticket cost to the theater, you may request a tax-deductible donation receipt.
  • You may request a refund.

Regardless of the option you choose, please contact the Box Office to discuss your decision by June 30, 2024.  Thank you for your understanding and support.
