Welcome to Renton Civic Theatre! We are committed to providing an enjoyable, comfortable, and respectful theater experience for all patrons, performers, and staff. To help ensure the best possible experience, we ask that you review the following policies and guidelines before attending a performance. These policies cover important information regarding ticketing, seating, accessibility, concessions, arrival times, and theater etiquette.

By attending a performance at RCT, you agree to follow these guidelines, helping us maintain a welcoming and immersive environment for everyone. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Box Office—we’re happy to help!

Renton Civic Theatre offers several parking options for patrons:

  • Street Parking: Available in the surrounding area.
  • Gravel Lot: Parking is permitted on the opposite side of the gravel lot across the street from the theater.
  • Private Lots: Parking in private lots is at your own risk.

🚗 Restaurant Parking Lot (East of the Theater)

  • Saturday Evening & Sunday Afternoon Performances: Patrons may park anywhere in the restaurant parking lot.
  • Thursday & Friday Evening Performances: Patrons may park against the fence in the restaurant parking lot. Do not park against the building or mural on these nights, as it may result in your vehicle being towed and/or the restaurant revoking patron parking privileges.

Transit Center Garage
We do not recommend parking in the transit center garage for evening performances, as its closing time has historically varied.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing you at the show!

Renton Civic Theatre is housed in a historic building, and while we strive to maintain a comfortable environment, our HVAC system cannot run during performances. This means that temperatures in the theater may fluctuate throughout the show.

To ensure your comfort, we recommend dressing in layers so you can easily adjust to both warmer and cooler conditions during the performance.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at the show!

We appreciate your cooperation in respecting the performers, production team, and copyright regulations. Thank you for helping us protect the magic of live theater! 🎭

To ensure an enjoyable and immersive experience for all, we kindly ask that audience members minimize disruptive noises during the performance. This not only enhances the experience for fellow theatergoers but also supports sensory-sensitive patrons and performers who may be especially affected by sudden, repetitive, or excessive sounds.

Please be mindful of the following:

Electronic Devices

  • Completely turn off all cell phones, smartwatches, pagers, and other electronic devices before the performance begins.
  • Refrain from using nonessential devices during the show, as sound and screen light can be distracting.

Talking & Unnecessary Noise

  • Keep conversations to a minimum once the performance begins.
  • If you must speak, please do so quietly and swiftly.
  • Avoid unnecessary sounds like tapping, humming, or rummaging through bags.

Food & Wrappers

  • Please unwrap snacks or cough drops before the show to prevent disruptive crinkling noises.
  • Our concessions stand is happy to provide cups and napkins to help hold unwrapped candy or food for quieter enjoyment.

Respecting the Space & Fellow Audience Members

  • If you need to leave or return to your seat, please do so as quietly and discreetly as possible.
  • Remember that sudden, repetitive, or loud noises can be especially disruptive to other patrons and performers, especially those who are sensory-sensitive.

By following these guidelines, you help create a welcoming and accessible environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation in making live theater an enjoyable experience for all!

Renton Civic Theatre is proud to offer a variety of family-friendly productions. To ensure an enjoyable experience for all audience members, we ask that children follow the same Disruptive Noise Policy as adults. If a child is unable to remain quiet and respectful throughout the performance, the family may be asked to step out of the theater.

Key Guidelines for Attending with Children:

  • All children require a purchased ticket, regardless of whether they sit in a lap or their own seat.
  • RCT productions are generally suitable for ages 9 and above, though some shows contain mature themes that may not be appropriate for all children.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for determining if a show’s content and runtime are appropriate for their child’s attention span and comfort level.
  • If you have questions about a show’s content, please contact our box office—we are happy to provide additional information or a written synopsis to help you decide.

Consideration for Fellow Audience Members

We love welcoming young theatergoers, but we also want to ensure the best experience for all guests. If you feel your child may have difficulty remaining quiet and seated throughout the performance, we kindly encourage you to consider waiting for a more suitable production or age-appropriate opportunity to attend.

Need to Step Out? We’ve Got You Covered!

If you need to leave a performance due to your child’s behavior, we understand! We are happy to exchange your tickets for another performance to ensure that you and your family can still enjoy the show at a later time.

Thank you for helping us maintain a welcoming and immersive theater experience for all audience members!

Renton Civic Theatre offers a variety of refreshments for purchase before the show and during intermission. To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all, please observe the following guidelines:

Enjoy Your Snacks & Drinks in the Auditorium

  • Food and drinks purchased at the RCT concessions stand may be brought into the auditorium and enjoyed during the performance. Please ensure that you follow the Disruptive Noise Policy during the consumption of your snacks.
  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the theater.

Alcoholic Beverages

  • Alcoholic drinks must be consumed inside the lobby or auditorium.
  • Alcohol is not permitted outside the theater.

Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Laws

  • In accordance with Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Control Board regulations, marijuana, marijuana by-products, and related paraphernalia are strictly prohibited on the premises.
  • RCT is legally required to ask anyone who brings such items to leave the venue.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable theater experience for all patrons. Thank you!

To ensure the best experience for both performers and audience members, late seating will be accommodated at the first suitable pause in the performance and in a location that minimizes disruption.

  • Seating time and location are at the discretion of the House Managers and may not be your originally preferred spot.
  • In the event of a no-show or late arrival, Renton Civic Theatre reserves the right to re-sell the seat to another patron on stand-by.

Since seating is general admission, we strongly encourage all guests to arrive early to secure their preferred seats. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a smooth and enjoyable theater experience for everyone!
