We got new seats!
Some of you may remember that back in June we told you that good things were coming but we couldn’t talk about them quite yet. Well, the last thing we were waiting for has finally happened, so our lips are now unzipped!
We are getting new seats! And we’re not talking about some nebulous time in the future – they’re already here! You’ll be sitting in them next time you come to the theatre!
We’re EXTREMELY EXCITED!
For those of you who need details, these are freshly reupholstered seats that are less than five years old. They are wider than our old seats, and are being installed to current code – so you get more leg room, too! This does mean that we technically will have less seats in the auditorium, but that’s a small sacrifice.
If you were part of the original campaign to buy the building and you got a plaque on the old seats, don’t worry! We’ve saved them and are going to do something special with them soon.
We’d like to give a HUGE thank you to the King County Council and to 4Culture for recognizing our need and working us into their budget. We’d like to give a HUGE thank you to the volunteers who came in to remove the old seats, and to repair and paint the floor and the walls. We’d like to give a HUGE thank you to the awesome install team, who are working hard to get them installed for you to use by Friday. And we’d like to give a HUGE thank you to you, our patrons, for your ongoing love and support of the arts in downtown Renton!
This project was supported, in part, by an award from 4Culture/King County Building for Culture Program. Another HUGE thank you to them!
THANK YOU ALL!
