I would like to take a moment to thank you for your outstanding support over the last 24 years. As season subscribers, donors, and volunteers you continue to ensure that a community with a strong emphasis on the arts will be a healthy community, one that is constantly moving forward and sharing stories that build bridges between generations. As we get ready for our Silver Anniversary Season I am ecstatic with the thoughts where this theater is going to be in another 25 years. This season is filled with a few favorite shows from the first 25 years and a new show to whet the appetite of us all. Last fall I asked you, the season ticket holder, to help us celebrate the Silver Anniversary Season by choosing the closing show of the year. The votes are in and we have a tie between Grease and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. I have decided that we will do both of them as a thank you for your continued support! So, with as much excitement as I have ever had, here is the 2012 — 2013 25th Anniversary Season.
The season will begin in September with our first audience choice — the all–time rock and roll favorite Grease, a trip back to the ’50s when the only thing you cared about was how cool your car was and how cool you looked in it. In October we will bring back a man who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt and two nice old ladies with something special in the whisky — Arsenic and Old Lace, a true classic of our time. In December we are going to join America in celebrating the 35th anniversary of a little orphan girl on Broadway with the hit musical Annie, something for the whole family to enjoy. The Foreigner will come and take vacation with us in February and when he has left he will have saved the day; this door slamming farce will have you rolling in the aisles with laughter. When April comes we will journey into the life of a little girl named Anne and her family as they hide out in an attic during WWII. The Diary of Anne Frank will be a show that will touch all of our hearts. The closing show of the season, as you have voted, is A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. Come back to the time of the Romans as we laugh and sing our way through one of Sondheim’s best musicals. I cannot wait for you all to enjoy the outstanding, professional performances we have set up for you during our 25th Anniversary season!
Last year we told you that we would have to raise the ticket prices, but our board of directors decided it was more important to keep the price of tickets the same so everyone can come and enjoy high quality theater in our community. For our loyal season ticket holders we are keeping our early bird special at the same price as it has been for the last 10 years! Order before May 16th, 2012 and the adult price is only $100 for all six shows and the senior price is only $80! This is a savings of over 25% off the regular season price (which is $141 for adults and $111 for seniors). We are offering this along with priority seating and the ability to exchange tickets any time you need without any charge. This is our way of saying thank you for 25 years of support. As another bonus we are offering Summer Teen Musical tickets at a special price only $10! Please consider adding a tax deductible donation of any amount along with your subscription as ticket sales only account for a portion of our yearly costs. Consider your gift an investment in the growth of arts in your community for years to come. Once again the Renton Civic Theatre Board of Directors joins me in thanking you for 25 years of continued support.
